The One Epic Sledding Hill In Ohio That Will Make Your Winter Unforgettable

Punderson State Park in Ohio offers a perfect winter getaway with a massive sledding hill, cozy lodge, and various winter activities.

This winter, don't let the possibility of snow get you down; instead, let it be inspiration for an epic day trip destination.

Winter in Ohio can be fun. As long as you know where to go, you'll be grateful for the possibility of snow. (For instance, this epic toboggan park is a must-visit after snowfall.) If you're wondering where the best places in Ohio to go sledding are, you should know about one of our all-time favorite sledding hills. Punderson State Park in Newbury is home to a gorgeous lodge, beautiful hiking trails and an incredible Ohio sledding hill you don't want to miss out on. Take a look:

About 30 minutes from Cleveland, there's an underrated state park with a cozy English Tudor manor that makes a cozy getaway in the winter—and the massive sledding hill alone is worth the trip.

You'll find the state park lodge at 11755 Kinsman Rd., Newbury, OH 44065.

Known as "Ohio's Winter Playground," Punderson State Park features an epic sledding hill that's open during the week (and weekends), making it the perfect way to spend a snow day with the family.

Please note: You may want to call ahead in advance before arriving to check on the current conditions.

Since this northeast Ohio area gets plenty of natural snowfall, this massive hill is a family favorite destination in the winter months. Bundle up, pile in the car and bring your sleds for an unforgettable day of fun in the snow.

There's also night lighting, so even when the sun goes down, the fun can still go on.

One of the newest features at the Punderson State Park sledding hill is the mechanical sledding lift, which makes the trek back up the hill much easier—and you can spend more time sledding than climbing back up, of course.

There are also free inner tubes available for use, as well as five tube lanes this year, up from two from past years.

As an added bonus, you can even try your hand at dog sledding! The winter fun is seemingly endless here.

Be sure to warm up with hot cocoa and concessions at the chalet and check out the tennis courts before you leave, as they transform into ice skating rinks during the winter season.
