Our small town streets and bustling public squares are sprinkled with with holiday decor, small business window displays are full of Christmas cheer and lights are strung all over town. Be sure to get out and take in all the Christmas spirit before the season is over. Here are 13 main streets in Ohio that are pure magic during Christmastime. We think you'll love them.
1. Superior Avenue and Ontario Street (Cleveland)
The free light display alone at Cleveland's revamped Public Square is enough to dazzle you and your family. Ice skate here for just $10 (or $7 if you bring your own ice skates) for an extra memorable time.
2. North Paint Street (Chillicothe)
Downtown Chillicothe is lit up with Christmas cheer every holiday season. At the end of North Paint Street, Yocantgee Park features a Santa house on select dates and times and Christmas lights every evening until early January.
3. East State Street and South High Street (Columbus)
Columbus Commons is a winter wonderland every holiday season. Park you car in the garage and stroll through the square with a cup of hot chocolate to get in the Christmas spirit.
4. North Sandusky Street (Delaware)
Downtown Delaware goes all out for the Christmas season with a beautiful tree lighting ceremony. The local shops also participate in a window display decorating contest, so when you shop here you get an extra dose of Christmas cheer.
5. North and South Court Street (Medina)
Medina is bursting with Christmas cheer each holiday season. After you've strolled through the Public Square, be sure to stop at Castle Noel, where you'll find the largest indoor Christmas attraction in America.
6. Fort Steuben Drive (Steubenville)
The Steubenville Nutcracker Village along Fort Steuben Drive features the largest display of life size nutcrackers in the U.S., Christmas lights, vendors, caroling and more at the at the Fort Steuben Park. The nutcrackers will be on display until January 10th.
7. Vine Street and East 5th Street (Cincinnati)
Fountain Square is full of Christmas cheer every December. You can also ice skate here for just $6. (Skate rentals are $4.) It's open until February 20.
8. 2nd Avenue (Gallipolis)
The French City's park along 2nd. Avenue lights up the night during the holiday season, complete with a Santa house and a nativity scene. Visit this quaint small town along the Ohio River for a memorable holiday season.
9. The Strand (Columbus)
Easton Town Center is all lit up with Christmas cheer from now until mid-January. Enjoy the lights and carolers while you finish your Christmas shopping.
10. North and South Main Street (Chagrin Falls)
The charming town of Chagrin Falls has a Main Street full of Christmas cheer every December. Take a stroll through park and check out the local shops while you're here. (And don't forget to make a stop at The Popcorn Shop on North Main Street.)
11. Wheeling Avenue (Cambridge)
Take a trip back in time this Christmas and explore the historic downtown of Cambridge, Ohio at the Dickens Victorian Village. Until early January, the town is transformed into old world England during the holiday season, featuring more than 90 scenes of 180 lifelike figures representing typical scenes from Victorian society and Dickens’ novels along Wheeling Avenue.
12. South Broadway Street (Greenville)
The city of Greenville lights up with holiday cheer for the Christmas season. Shop downtown and take in all the lights, Christmas decor and window displays. (Be sure to stop at the Maid-Rite Sandwich Shoppe for a scrumptious loose meat sandwich.)
13. North Main Street (Piqua)
Even with a chill in the air, the Christmas cheer, holiday lights and window displays will warm your heart in the town of Piqua at Christmastime.
