Ohio is a warm and welcoming state; a place we are so lucky to call home. From our largest cities to our smallest towns, there really is no place like the Buckeye State. One of our "little big cities" is Toledo; an oft-overlooked gem of a town in northwest Ohio. But Toledo truly belongs on your radar; it's a bustling place that is the perfect mix of big-city amenities and small-town charm. And not only that, but Toledo is a place that will wholly welcome you with open arms. For proof of this, simply visit International Park, where a duo of giant signs reminds folks of two very important messages.
When was the last time someone told you that you were beautiful?
Or offered encouragement that yes, you *are* doing great. Because you are!
In northwest Ohio, this is a message that's shared daily, in Toledo's International Park.
After previously appearing in the 2019 Momentum festival, this eight-foot, double-sided piece moved to the Art in Public Places collection at International Park.
The second, a "You Are Beautiful" design was originally a small sticker, designed in 2002 by Matthew Hoffman. Since then, over 5 million stickers have been produced in 100 languages. It's an important message; one we can all use in our day-to-day lives.
You know the saying "kindness doesn't cost a thing?" It doesn't. These sculptures may have, but their message -- and our ability to pay it forward -- is free.
So come and snap a selfie for your Instagram feed, and share the positivity where you can.
Oh, and Toledo? You are quite beautiful, too.
Have you seen the encouraging signs at International Park? This Toledo art piece makes for a great photo op and an amazing and encouraging reminder for us all.
