Turns out you don't have to travel to Europe to observe breathtaking cathedrals and elaborate stained glass windows. The following are what we consider to be the most beautiful churches in Ohio.
1) Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral (Toledo)
Constructed in a Spanish Platteresque style in 1926, this cathedral is more than 240 feet long and 90 feet tall.
2) Shrine Church of St. Stanislaus (Cleveland)
This historic Polish cathedral was constructed in the late 1800s.
3) Trinity Cathedral (Cleveland)
Originally built in 1901, the Trinity Cathedral was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.
4) St. Theodosius Cathedral (Cleveland)
The oldest Orthodox Christian Church in the State of Ohio, and constructed in 1912.
5) Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist (Cleveland)
Completed in 1852, this historic Roman Catholic cathedral now sits in the heart of downtown Cleveland.
6) Annunciation Cathedral (Columbus)
Columbus' Greek Orthodox Cathedral is built in the traditional Byzantine style of architecture, featuring a dome and a floor plan of a Greek cross.
7) St. Peter in Chains Cathedral (Cincinnati)
This Greek revival structure was officially completed and dedicated in 1845.
8) Christ Church Cathedral (Cincinnati)
Located in downtown Cincinnati is the cathedral church of the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio.
9) St. Joseph's Cathedral (Columbus)
The first cornerstone of this cathedral was laid in 1866, and the church currently sits in central Columbus.
10) St. Columba Cathedral (Youngstown)
Antique glass blown in Germany, England and Italy was used for the stained glass windows in this cathedral.
