There are scores of places in North Carolina to have an adventure of a lifetime, but few can compare to hoping on a two-hour train ride into the Nantahala Gorge, then disembarking and taking a canopy and zipline tour in the mountains before hopping back on the train and heading back to the depot. On the day of your Tarzan Train, you'll start out with a two-hour train ride into the breathtaking Nantahala Gorge. Watch paddlers take on the rapids of the Nantahala River as you motor through the mountains on the train.
Enjoy the views of Fontana Lake and cross the famous trestle over the lake. Chow down on a deli sandwich lunch that's included in the ticket. And then sit back and wait to reach the top of the line in the gorge, where you'll disembark and...
Take a short journey over to Wildwater Canopy Tours. After a short period of outfitting you with all of the gear you'll need for the canopy tour and a short orientation from your guide(s), you'll be all set to take on the 13 ziplines and eight sky bridges.
People of all ages tackle this adventure. The only limitations are that kids must be at least 10 and there is a maximum weight limit of 250 pounds for adults.

When the canopy tour ends, you'll head back through the gorgeous Nantahala Gorge and back to the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad Depot in Bryson City.
The Tarzan Train excursion is a wonderful adventure for families and costs $129 for adults (max. weight 250 pounds) and $109 for kids age 10 (or 70 pounds). Train seating is in the open-air gondala.
