The One Of A Kind Outhouse Races You Won’t Find Anywhere But North Carolina
The Outhouse Races at Sapphire Valley Ski Area offer a thrilling and unique competition for the brave.
Do you consider yourself a brave one? If so, be sure to test your mettle at this one-of-a-kind, marginally dangerous event. The Outhouse Races take place on Feb. 18 at 3 p.m. at Sapphire Valley Ski Area. If you enjoy the excitement of NASCAR or the pinewood derby races, this is those on steroids. Be one of the many, the few, and the courageous to compete for the throne — or say you tried.
Bring out your imagination as your outhouses can be made of wood, cardboard, plastic, or any other homemade materials.
Outhouses must have a seat and at least one hole, and a roll of toilet paper or alternative wiping source.
They come in simple or creative, secured on a set of skis, which are available at the Sapphire Valley Ski Area.
The enthusiasm also shines through the costumes.
Talk about support — spectators gather from near and far.
Three people to a team provide two pushers while one team member sits inside. And with a big shove, they are off.
The first 30 feet allows for pushing.
And the last 90 feet is just you and the hill.
Will you make it? Or will you wipe out?
Either way, it's a chance to go down in history with all of these witnesses.
Have you developed some ideas for crafting your outhouse at this one-of-a-kind event? Don't miss out on the fun and memories this project brings. And while you're there, take advantage of the other fun activities offered at Sapphire Valley Ski Area.
