The New Attraction in Wilmington, North Carolina We Can’t Wait to Experience
Game Changers is an amazing new exhibit at the Cape Fear Museum of History and Science in Wilmington, North Carolina. Visitors can explore historical video game items, play games, and even be a part of a video game.
It seems there's always something new and exciting coming to the great state of North Carolina. I love new attractions and experiences; their novelty brings opportunities to create shared memories with my friends and family. In July 2024, a new exhibit came to the Cape Fear Museum of History and Science in Wilmington. The exhibit, Game Changers, is a hands-on, interactive experience that teaches visitors about video games, including those of the past, present, and future. We can't wait to check it out.
Game Changers dives deep into all the parts of video games, including the auditory, visual, storytelling, and graphical components. There's a collection of historical gaming items, like storyboards, designs, and scripts from popular games. Visitors can also play some landmark games, like Pac-Man, Super Mario Bros., Space Invaders, and Angry Birds. They can try their hand at Tetris on a massive Gameboy or become a part of a video game as a character. Doesn't this sound like such a fun way to spend an afternoon?
The exhibit also encourages visitors to consider trends in video gaming and predict what they may look like in the future. It is bilingual, in French and English. Game Changers will remain on display at the Cape Fear Museum until April 2025.
The Cape Fear Museum of History and Science is on Market Street in downtown Wilmington. It has several incredible exhibits, including Collection Selection: First Lady Dolls, a series of 37 dolls crafted in the 1960s by Roxie L. Chasten, a Wilmingtonian, to resemble the First Ladies of the United States. The museum also displays the Giant Ground Sloth exhibit, a 20-foot-tall skeletal replica of a sloth found in the region.
In the Michael Jordan Discovery Gallery, visitors can explore fossils, woodland animals, a Venus fly trap, and native plants. The museum periodically opens new exhibits and plans to open The American Revolution Experience in December 2024. This exhibit highlights the people and places important in the American Revolution.
Game Changers is a traveling exhibition developed and produced by the Canada Science and Technology Museum.
