Do You Remember North Carolina’s Quirky Mystery Hill?

Do you remember North Carolina's delightfully quirky Mystery Hill attraction? Open for more than 70 years, this must-visit roadside wonder has wowed many generations of visitors with its attractions. In fact, some families make it a point to return year after year - each time seeking to solve the mystery behind the gravity-defying house that makes balls roll uphill and anyone who enters left standing at a 45-degree angle.

Mystery Hill is located in Blowing Rock, where it's impossible to pass by in a vehicle without noticing the wacky attraction's decor or the flurry of activity posed by visitors discovering the fun.

The first stop for any first-time or returning visitor is always the Mystery House where gravity is thrown to the wind and even water runs uphill.

But there is plenty more to see and do outside, too! If it's been a while (as in DECADES) since you've visited Mystery Hill, then you really should go back. So much has been added over the years...

Everyone, kids included, will love the Mystery Platform.

In spite of it being entirely level (there's even a carpenter's level on the platform to prove it), the platform mysteriously makes visitors grow of shrink, depending upon where you stand. If you stand on one side you'll feel short. Move to the other side and, in some unexplained way, you've grown!

Be sure to wait for a turn in the incredible Bubblerama. If you've never made a soapy bubble big enough to step your whole body into, then here's your chance!

If you thought the Mystery Hill you visited in your youth was fun, just wait until you see it today. It's grown!

Mystery Hill has grown to include a fossil museum, a gem mining operation where visitors can sluice their own precious gems, a Hall of Mystery, and an Old-Tyme Photos studio. What more could you ask to include in a day filled with fun and mystery?

How about tomahawk throwing?

Try your hand at throwing a Tomahawk. Wouldn't this make a fun photo?

If the Tomahawk is a little over-the-top for you, then try knife-throwing. What fun!

All of the adventure may make you crave a bite to eat. Pop over to the Front Porch Eats spot and get a snack that's big enough for the whole family! The Trough includes two bananas, two massive donuts, five scoops of ice cream, countless toppings, and whipped cream. Wow! Of course, there are also other items on the menu.

There's much more to do at today's Mystery Hill than meets the eye. There's even enough to fill an entire day — or longer!

Want to stay longer? Mystery Hill even has delightful, riverside rustic cabins with all of the comforts of home. With so much to see and do, why not make a full weekend of it??

Mystery Hill is open year-round seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Learn more from the official website for Mystery Hill and go here to follow the Facebook page.
