The NC Mountain State Fair near Asheville offers family fun, rides, livestock competitions, and delicious fair food set against the beautiful mountain vistas of Western North Carolina.

The NC Mountain State Fair, near Asheville, means eating one of the best corn dogs in the land, dancing to a lively jig, and we're finally heading for the cooler days of fall. Now in its 30th year, the state's only mountain rendition of a "state fair" is slated for Sept. 6-15, 2024. With several days of wholesome family fun set among the beautiful mountain vistas found in Western North Carolina — what could be better? Let's take a peek at this delightful mountain fair in North Carolina.

The NC Mountain State Fair attracts 180,000 people to the fairgrounds at the Western North Carolina Agricultural Center, where there is plenty of space for all of the festivities.

The lively event brings together families from all over the region for a day or evening of good, clean fun. With so much to do, it may be hard to decide where to start. We suggest you enjoy a spin on one of the many rides in the midway.

Or hop aboard a gondola to see views like never before at this fantastic State Fair in North Carolina.

From high above the fairgrounds, you'll have a bird's eye view of it all and of the mountains surrounding the fair.

With more than 40 rides this year and ticket packages available, there's sure to be more than a few rides in your near future.

And what fair would be complete without some fair fare?

That's probably my favorite part of going to the fair - the food!

Come hungry because there's no way you're leaving without sampling some of your favorites.

We love a good funnel cake!

You'll want to carve out enough time at the fair to check out the various barns and livestock pens.

Ribbons galore are awarded each year for the best of - well, everything. From cooking competitions to arts and crafts, and the best of the best in livestock entries. Thousands of farm animals will be present at the fair!

Speaking of which, cheer on your favorite participant in the livestock competitions at the North Carolina Mountain State Fair.

It will be most appreciated.

In the Mountain Heritage Circle, you'll get to see demonstrations of all sorts, including the Dutch Oven Cook-off.

Watch and learn how to bake (and more) without an oven!

Dozens of craftspeople will be on hand to demonstrate their passions.

Wear some comfortable walking shoes because things are spread out at the fair and you'll want to see it all.
