Ride The Rails In A Historic Trolley Car On The Craggy Mountain Line In North Carolina
Craggy Mountain Line offers historic trolley rides through the countryside near Asheville, North Carolina.
Fortunately for visitors and residents alike, North Carolina has a number of ways to step back in time when it comes to riding the rails in the Tar Heel State. But there's only one place you can take a ride in a historic street car used on the Asheville trolley line and that's at Craggy Mountain Line just north of Asheville near Woodfin.
Featuring two historic trolley cars, Craggy Mountain Line is a fantastically fun trolley ride through the countryside.
Hop aboard for a 3.45-mile ride on an old abandoned rail line outside of Asheville.
Feel the gentle breeze in your hair on one of the open-air cars. Kids of all ages will enjoy this fun day trip.
The round trip lasts approximately 90 minutes with a short layover in Woodfin.
Get out, stretch your legs, and then it's back in the trolley for a slow and gentle pace back to your starting point.
Asheville's last trolley ran on September 6, 1934. And although this may not be that last streetcar to run, it's one of the historic cars from Asheville's stock, making it a bit of a history lesson too!
Craggy Mountain Line runs seasonally every Saturday at 4 p.m. from May through the end of September. In past years, seasonal rides like their Jingle Bell run have afforded an opportunity to ride the rails in the snow!
