Fall in North Carolina just may be the best season ever. From fall foliage day trips to fall festivals there's so much to do as the weather cools down that it's nearly impossible to spend the day on the couch as we sometimes do when the weather isn't as pleasant. If you're on the lookout for a fall festival that provides nothing but wholesome family fun, then you'll find it on October 23, 2021 in the small town of Franklin (population, about 4,100).
Downtown Franklin will come alive with the 25th annual PumpkinFest, an event that is a fall family tradition for many in the area.
It's a day filled with really cool events the whole family can enjoy.
Perhaps the most famous of them all is the annual Pumpkin Roll.
It takes place pretty much all day long from 10:30 until 2:30. Sign ups begin at 9 a.m. and you can purchase a pumpkin to roll at the place and time you sign up.
And let's not forget the costume parade and contest!
Come dressed in your favorite costume and gather at Town Hall at 1 p.m. with other entrants. You'll march over to the Gazebo on the Square for the contest. First, second, and third place trophies will be awarded in the following age categories: 0 to 2, 3 to 4, 5 to 6, 7 to 10, 11 to 14, 15 & up. Good luck!
Enjoy street performers and actors dressed for the occasion.
Wear your own costume to blend in!
Take in the sight of the Batmobile, which will be on-hand all day for viewing.
Other activities include two kids' zones, free pony rides, a balloon artist with free balloons, and more!
And for the grown ups, more than 60 arts and crafts vendors will be on hand with plenty of things to browse and purchase!
The annual PumpkinFest takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on October 23, 2021 in downtown Franklin, North Carolina.
The event is scheduled, come rain or shine!
