That's why the recent proliferation of companies offering kayaking and canoeing tours in New Orleans and the surrounding areas has been so exciting for people who live in New Orleans. Two big companies, Kayak-iti-Yat and Bayou Paddlesports offer regular tours for boaters of all skill levels to paddle up and down the beautiful waters of Bayou St. John.
At the most recent Bayou Boogaloo, the influx of paddlers made it hard to navigate the Bayou's waters.
But it demonstrated the enormous popularity that kayaking down Bayou St. John has amassed in recent years.
Kayak-iti-Yat and Bayou Paddlesports offer different packages depending on what you're looking for.
Bayou Paddlesports leads group trips as well as gives classes and lessons. Paddleboarding is also an option with them. Kayak-iti-Yat offers a variety of tours, some on Bayou St. John and some at other locations around New Orleans.
But perhaps the most popular place to paddle in Orleans Parish is down Bayou St. John.
So go ahead, get a group of friends and spend your day on the waters of this gorgeous bayou.
It's a great form of relaxing exercise--and don't worry if you aren't an experienced paddler.
You will receive a lesson and the truth is--anyone can learn to control a kayak! It's truly not that difficult.
