1) Aquarium of the Americas, 1 Canal St.
This huge aquarium in the heart of downtown New Orleans is known for it's beautiful fish-filled archways and exotic tropical fish. Not to mention the penguins!
2) Audubon Zoo, 6500 Magazine St.
One of the most beautiful zoos in the country, Audubon Zoo offers a large array of exhibits and learning opportunities for guests.
3) Jackson Square, 506 St. Peters Street
Probably the most iconic spot in New Orleans, and certainly one of the oldest, Jackson Square is the place in NOLA to see and be seen.
4) The Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden at NOMA, 1 Collins Diboll Circle
This gorgeous sculpture garden found just to the left of the New Orleans Museum of Art in City Park is free to the public and filled with beautiful sculpture.
5) Jean Lafitte National Wildlife Preserve, 6588 Barataria Preserve Pkwy
Jean Lafitte is just a short 20 minute drive from the center of New Orleans but offers a complete getaway from the city and an immersion in gorgeous swamp land.
6) New Orleans Pharmacy Museum, 514 Chartres St.
A small, funky museum in the French Quarter gives visitors the chance to explore what old-time pharmacies were like.
7) St. Louis Cemetery No. 1, 1400 Washington Ave
One of the most famous of the 'Cities of the Dead", Cemetery No. 1 is a beautiful place to spend an afternoon. Consider a tour to get the full immersion in the history here.

A historic market at the edge of the French Quarter, you can literally expect to find just about anything here.
9) Longue Vue House And Gardens, 7 Bamboo Road
One of the most beautiful private gardens in New Orleans, the fee for a tour here is well worth the price.
10) Frenchmen Art Market, 619 Frenchmen St.
A more modern market of local craftsmen and artists who sell their wares into the night on bustling Frenchmen street.
11) Ogden Museum, 925 Camp St.
This museum of Southern art is filled with amazing pieces and offers great traveling exhibits.
12) National WWII Museum, 945 Magazine St.
One of the most popular museums in the country, the WWII Museum gives visitors a glimpse into the past.
