Bam Kazam at American Dream Is Part Escape Room, Part Obstacle Course, and All Chaos

Summer was always my favorite season growing up; after all, it meant freedom! But as I've gotten older, my heat tolerance has decreased a little, and I find myself spending more time indoors. Fortunately, New Jersey has no shortage of places to beat the heat when the thermostat keeps climbing, and there may be no more spectacular choice than American Dream. This mega-mall opened in 2020 and has been steadily expanding ever since. Its signature Dream Wheel, offering incredible views of the New York skyline, is one of the most iconic sights in the Garden State.

As if the dozens of attractions and restaurants in the mall aren't enough, it has new and exciting things opening all the time—and the latest addition is Bam Kazam, an innovative new escape room in New Jersey. Combining puzzles with obstacle courses and head-to-head game-show-style competition, it's not like any escape room I've seen before, and I can't wait to explore its adventures for myself.

American Dream Keeps Adding Must-Visit Attractions

The American Dream Mall is an impressive landmark. It's made up of an astounding three million square feet, which is divided pretty equally between retail and dining. It's one place where "shop till you drop" isn't just an expression, because there are 450 stores and counting inside. Other surprising elements you'll find here include the world's steepest rollercoaster, with a terrifying drop of 121 degrees. There's also a 300-foot observation wheel that lets you gaze out at the Manhattan skyline.

As American Dream keeps growing, I find myself pulled back to this massive indoor mall and attraction hub again and again. I haven't come close to trying everything there, but Bam Kazam, the mall's newest immersive attraction, is definitely going to jump the line as soon as I can get a group together.

What to Expect When You Try Bam Kazam

Bam Kazam takes the classic escape room model and puts a big twist on it, adding a fast-paced physical element to the puzzles. Unlike the escape rooms where you spend an hour trying to crack complex puzzles to make your way to the exit, Bam Kazam describes itself as an arcade reinvented, putting you inside the game.

You'll find dozens of rapid-reset game rooms inside the Bam Kazam environment, each posing a unique challenge and taking you to an unexpected environment. You might find yourself trying to raid a Mayan temple, break into an art museum, or solve the challenges of a surreal sci-fi landscape.

Who Will Enjoy Bam Kazam?

Everyone from kids to families, teens, and even corporate groups will love this interactive arcade. The facility can accommodate up to 100 participants, and you don't need any specific skills to join in. You can explore tricky puzzles, obstacle courses, and fast-paced immersive games at your own pace. It's part escape room, part game show, and part adventure course, and it's best explored with a few good friends. The American Dream location is Bam Kazam's first on the East Coast, with other outlets in Scottsdale and Houston.
