New Jersey’s Largest Collection Of Sea Animal Artifacts Is At This Animal Rescue And Museum
I love the Jersey Shore, and everything about this unique region of the state - from the sprawling boardwalks to the laid-back inlets. Not only is it filled with amazing attractions, but it has some of the most amazing natural spots in the entire northeast. However, there are some great secrets still hiding along the shore - and there's one that's a must-visit destination for anyone who loves animals. The Marine Mammal Stranding Center is a non-profit rescue that helps beached animals, mostly seals, and rehabilitates them for release into the ocean. The marine mammals rescue center isn't open to the public, but the building is also home to a unique museum on the Jersey Shore - the Sea Life Museum, which features an amazing collection of artifacts and other exhibits. It's well worth the drive to Brigantine to see this unique destination!
The Marine Mammal Stranding Center is one of the most important spots on the shore - especially for some furry friends.
This animal rescue specializes in rehabilitating stranded animals, especially seals, and releasing them after recovery.
While the stranding center isn't open to the public, there is an attached Sea Life Museum for those interested in the work done here.
Ambassadors are on hand to show off the displays here and teach guests about the wildlife and ecosystem of the shore. Interactive activities abound for young guests.
The coolest thing here is a massive collection of sea life artifacts, including a walrus tusk and bones from a massive sperm whale.
And for those who want to take some animal friends home, there's a huge gift shop. Try to leave with just one!
But if you're like us, you're still thinking about those rescued seals. While they can't be visited, you can observe any animals currently under the center's care through closed-circuit camera.
