Compete In This One-Of-A-Kind Adventure Challenge In New Hampshire This Summer

Instead of doing the typical activities that usually come along with summer, why not try something different? The 2024 New Hampshire Adventure Challenge will get you outside to learn more about the state's natural and cultural resources while competing with others for prizes at the same time. It's a perfect way to learn more about the wonderful state we live in and the challenge kicks off in June. Below are just some of the activities you can take part in!

1. Go Camping

Sleep under the stars at one of the state's forest, parks, or lakes. This one is best done outside of bug season!

2. Photograph And Identify Wildlife Tracks Or Scat

Tracking wildlife can be fascinating, as it gives us insight as to what critters are out there in the woods with us.

3. Visit A New Hampshire State Park

New Hampshire has no shortage of state parks, from the smallest lakefront park to the largest wilderness parks. They are all great in their own way.

4. Go Kayaking, Canoeing, Or Boating

Relax on the state's ponds and rivers and keep your eyes out for the local wildlife that call the waterways home.

5. Visit A New Hampshire Historical Marker

Fascinating bits of New Hampshire history can be learned by visiting these markers. There are 300 to choose from!

6. Visit A Historic Covered Bridge

New Hampshire is famous for its covered bridges and many have earned a place on the National Register of Historic Places.

7. Participate In A New Hampshire Library Summer Reading Program

Reading about and researching one of the other tasks in the challenge is a great way to be better informed about them.

8. Identify Two Birds That Are Native To New Hampshire

New Hampshire has only one official state bird, but dozens of other birds call this area home.

9. Visit A Local Farmer's Market

Local farmer's markets are not only a place to get fresh food, but are also a great way to support our local farming economy.

10. Plant A Pollinator Garden

Say goodbye to a grass lawn that you have to mow. Plant a pollinator garden instead that's both beautiful and beneficial for the environment.
