I Experienced the Enchantment of New Hampshire’s Ice Castles: A True Winter Wonderland
A winter trip to the magical Ice Castles attraction in North Woodstock, New Hampshire is like stepping into a winter wonderland of frozen fun.
There is so much cold-weather fun to experience in New Hampshire that there is no reason to curl up and hibernate for the winter. From fantastic skiing to snow tubing to ice skating, the seasonal possibilities are endless. If you are on the hunt for even more frozen fun, there is another incredible attraction in North Woodstock that is not to be missed! Ice Castles is a magical winter wonderland that everyone should experience at least once.

A visit to Ice Castles had been on my winter bucket list for years, and last February, my family and I finally made the trip up north to see this amazing attraction. Since we planned the visit during our kid's school vacation, we decided to turn the winter experience into an overnight adventure.
Tickets to Ice Castles are always in high demand, especially during holidays and vacation weeks, so I reserved our visit way in advance. We picked a mid-afternoon slot and arrived at the beginning of our 30-minute booking window to ensure we entered in time and had the rest of the day to explore the castles.

From the moment we entered the frozen winter wonderland, I was utterly mesmerized by the beauty and wonder of the magnificent structures. As I wandered through the frozen landscape, I may have softly sung the words to Disney’s Frozen “Let It Go” more than once.

The various ice caves and frozen formations offered endless photo opportunities and tons of adventurous fun. I felt like a kid as I crawled through frozen tunnels, posed for pictures in a hole cut out of ice, and slid down the slippery slides. The entire experience made me feel as if I were in a fairytale world.

After we explored the castles and caves, we wandered down to the Winter Fairy Village to search for fairies and view the spectacular lights. Our frozen visit concluded with several exhilarating trips down the snow tubing hill and a quick walk back through some of our favorite frozen structures.

Although our admission tickets granted us unlimited time at the attraction, we found that roughly two hours was enough time out in the cold. If we make a return trip, I plan to book a night visit and experience the magic of the sculptures illuminated by lights. I would also love to add a sleigh ride through the illuminated woods to the agenda.
We ended our day by exploring the town of Woodstock, browsing through the unique local items at Fadden's General Store, and experiencing a very unique stay in an actual train car. This snowy overnight in the nearby Lil' Red Caboose Airbnb in Lincoln was the perfect compliment to our family’s winter adventure.

The 2025 Ice Castle event will take place from January 10th - to February 23rd. The frigid temperatures that we have experienced thus far will surely contribute to the beauty and stability of the magnificent structures. Pricing during peak times runs $23-$31 per person and is only $15-$21 off-peak. The attraction hours vary depending on the day.
