Is there anything better than re-living the glory days days of long hours at the arcade dominating your pals at games like Pac-Man and Donkey Kong? We say no and that's why we love that so many things from our past are cool again! Today we're super-excited about the largest arcade in the world, which happens to be located right here in New Hampshire!
FUNSPOT, located in Laconia, has been around since 1952. If you've been here most of your life there's a good chance you've spent lots of hours either visiting or begging your parents to take you!
Bob Lawton (who turns 90 in March 2021!) is the man behind the magic and he's been making sure the place runs smoothly and offers all the fun you can imagine since his first day open. In fact, you can still find him here at Long Tavern on Saturdays from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
And when you visit you'll understand just what keeps him passionate! There are no less than 600 games here and each one will have you reminiscing. Head to the American Classic Arcade Museum section where you'll find 300 of the most classic games.
We love the old-school games like pinball and Galaga. But FUNSPOT also has things like Skee-Ball to keep you busy.
Unassuming on the outside, you'll be shocked at just how much is offered once you walk inside. In fact, FUNSPOT has been named the largest arcade in the world by the Guinness Book of World Records.
The vintage games are fun, but there are plenty of modern options for those who can't imagine a world before iPads.
And while you might recognize most of the games here, there are definitely some novelties.
Once you've tried your hand at the video games, carve out some time for a frame or two of bowling.
They've also got indoor mini-golf and bumper cars.
And when the weather gets warm and you've enjoyed the indoor fun, head outside for some time on the adventure course.
Whatever you choose to do here at FUNSPOT you can be sure you'll have a great time!
FUNSPOT Arcade is open Monday through Friday from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. You can learn more about the arcade and everything else they offer by checking out their website. Follow them on Facebook to keep up-to-date with new offerings and changes in schedule. They can be reached on 603-366-4377.
Prefer you gaming to include adults beverages and snacks? You can travel back to the 80s at Electric Avenue, a nostalgia-filled bar in New Hampshire.
