Visit These 7 Ice Skating Rinks In Nevada For Some Magical Winter Fun

Ice skating is a fun winter activity for the whole family! It can even be a year-round activity at indoor skating rinks. Here are seven ice skating rinks, both indoor and outdoor, that you can enjoy throughout the state this winter. So lace up your skates and take a whirl on the ice (and if you don’t know how to skate, some of these ice skating rinks in Nevada offer lessons, or skating partners to help keep you on your feet):

1. Pepsi Ice Arena, North Las Vegas

The Pepsi Ice Arena (formerly called the SoBe Ice Arena) is located in the Fiesta Rancho Casino and Hotel at 2407 North Rancho Drive. This 31,000-square-foot rink hosts hockey leagues for children and adults. Figure or hockey skating lessons are available on Tuesdays and Sundays. Check their website for public skating times and days which vary from week to week. There are also DJ Nights and private party options for skaters.

2. Arlington Square Ice Rink, Carson City

Note: It appears that the Arlington Square ice rink is no longer being run by the city of Carson City.

The rink is located at the corner of North Carson and West Robinson Streets, directly across from the Carson Nugget. The rink is run by the Carson City Parks and Recreation department. This outdoor seasonal rink is open from late November through late January. The price is $7 for adults, $5 for children 3-12 and skate rentals are $3 per pair.

3. Rock Rink, Las Vegas

This rink is located in upscale Summerlin and is open from mid-November until the middle of January. The rink is decked out with Christmas decorations including some lovely Christmas trees. The main attraction is a beautifully decorated 30-foot tree. There's a light show with music played every hour during the evenings. Hours vary so check their website for dates and times. Skate rental fees start at $16. You can also purchase tickets online. Private skating lessons are also available. The Rock Rink is at Downtown Summerlin, 1980 Festival Plaza Drive, Las Vegas.

4. Ice Rink at Greater Nevada Field, Reno

The Ice Rink at Greater Nevada Field is an outdoor rink run by the Aces Baseball team Ballpark. The rink is open Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 10 pm, and Sundays 10 am to 7 pm. Groups can reserve the rink for up to 300 people for $1,000 for their own special skate party. There are also group rates for skaters of 20 or more.

5. The Ice Rink at the Cosmopolitan, Las Vegas

The Cosmopolitan Hotel on the Strip transforms its rooftop pool into an Ice Rink. The rink is open from the middle of November to just after New Year's Day. The rink is 4,200 square feet and decorated with Christmas lights with the lights from the Strip as an incredible background. The Cosmopolitan Hotel ice skating rink holds special event days throughout the season. Enjoy date nights, ice skating shows, a Christmas tree lighting ceremony, New Year's fireworks, and even a circus on ice event. Visit their website for times and dates.

Another fun thing about the Ice Rink at the Cosmopolitan is the roasted smores and gourmet hot cocoa you can enjoy while watching the skaters go by.

6. Cave Lake State Park, Ely

The rink at Cave Lake State Park is open to visitors in the winter. Admission to the park is free and equipment rentals are available. The park is located on State Road 486 (Success Summit Road). The rink and park also host a "Fire and Ice Show" in January featuring some amazing ice sculptures.

7. Las Vegas Ice Center, Las Vegas

This rink is primarily used for hockey teams, figure skating lessons, tournaments, and even curling events. There are public skate hours on select days for two-hour blocks of time. Enjoy some time skating as the house lights dim and the colored disco ball spins. Music videos also play on the jumbotron. There is a per-person fee to skate and skate rental is available. There are also "ice walkers" for an additional fee for children new to skating, or if you haven't found your skating wings quite yet. The Las Vegas Ice Center is located at 9295 West Flaming Road, Las Vegas.
