It's that time of year in Nevada where we are constantly looking for ways to keep cool. Triple digit temperatures are definitely no fun, but it's not impossible to have fun in them. A trip to the nearest splash pad is always a quick and easy way to have fun with the kids, and it's much cheaper than hitting up a water park. There's one splash pad, in particular, you'll want to be sure to check out this summer. Hiding out near Reno, it's considered one of the best places to keep cool in the state and you'll definitely want to spend the day there.
Splash pad season is in full swing, and you'll want to make sure to visit the one featured here while the temperatures are soaring. North Valleys Water Splash Park is a wonderful addition to the community and it's a blast for both young and old.
Located in Washoe County, you'll find this splash park located just north of Reno. It's become a treasured summer oasis for many local families, and it may just become one of your favorites as well with everything it has to offer.
First opened in 2014, the 7,100-square-foot park contains everything you could need to keep cool on those hot summer days. The unique aviation-themed splash pad boasts over 60 spray heads along with 20 different water features! This is definitely far from your typical neighborhood splash pad, that's for sure.
The splash pad was constructed to pay tribute to many of Reno's most iconic features. Lake Tahoe is painted on the ground, and notable play structures include the air tower and runway from Stead Airport along with a handful of airplanes, all of which are meant to signify the famous Reno Air Races.
Kids will find themselves spending hours running around the splash pad, but parents can also find plenty of relaxation underneath the park's covered pavilions and picnic areas. The park also boasts wide open grassy areas which are perfect for playing or relaxing on.
Having fun in the sun should never cost an arm and a leg! Admission to this wonderful little park is just $4 per person for the entire day. Children ages 2 and under along with seniors 65 and over get in free. The park also offers 5-visit and 10-visit punch passes for a slight discount.
