Montana is full of some of the most majestic landscapes and stunning territory you'll ever see. It also happens to be home to some out-of-the-box, eccentric, odd, and downright quirky spots. As much as we pretend to shrug our shoulders and roll our eyes, the truth is that we love them. These are a few of our favorites.
1. The Montana Vortex & House of Mystery
Located near Columbia Falls, this otherworldly attraction will leave you scratching your head in wonder (it may also leave you dizzy, so beware). This gravitational anomaly is a must-see for all Montanans.
Address: 7800 US-2, Columbia Falls, MT, 59912
2. Berkeley Pit
Here in Montana, we have a highly toxic pit of bird-killing acid water that is in danger of rising up to such high levels that it would be catastrophic... and we added a viewing area and turned it into a tourist attraction.
3. The Sip 'n Dip Lounge
Why would anyone put a beachy mermaid lounge in the middle of Great Falls? The better question is, why wouldn't you want to? The Sip 'n Dip has received national praise, and you really can't help but love it.
Address: 17 7th Street South, Great Falls, MT, 59401
4. The O'Fallon Historical Museum
Located in Baker, this charming museum showcases the history of Southeastern Montana. Not only is it free to enter, you'll see gems like Steer Montana, the largest of his kind ever to exist.
Address: 723 South Main Street, Baker, MT 59313
5. The Historic Jersey Lilly
The Jersey Lilly might be known for its steaks and beans, but back in 1914, it was the new bank in town. It spent some time as the Oasis Bar before getting its current name in 1948, and it still retains its historic charms (and outhouses).
Address: 105 Main Street, Ingomar, MT, 59039
6. Ringing Rocks
It isn't always easy to reach the Ringing Rocks, which you'll find near Butte in the small community of Whitehall. But if you ever go, take a small hammer, tap lightly, and smile as they sing.
7. American Computer & Robotics Museum
Did you know Bozeman has a entire museum dedicated to the history of the computer? This place has earned a Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor for six years running, and it's a well-deserved award.
Address: 2023 Stadium Drive, Bozeman, MT 59715
8. The Montana Bale Trail
Every September, the friendly folks in Hobson ad Utica create entries for the annual What the Hey? contest. This year's contest will be September 8, and we couldn't be more excited.
9. Garden of 1,000 Buddhas
The fact that Montana has a huge Buddhist inspired spiritual site - on an Indian reservation, no less - is pretty fascinating. The fact that it's absolutely beautiful is just an added bonus.
Address: 34574 White Coyote Road, Arlee, MT, 59821
We're so lucky to get to call Montana home, knowing we definitely live in the best state.
