Laughter is infectious at Jake's Field of Dreams Playground in Wentzville, a unique playground built in memory of a Missouri boy who dreamed of one day playing sports.

Jacob Vollmer, the inspiration for this playground for kids of all abilities, was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy as a young boy. While he wouldn't live to fulfill his dream...

Jake passed away at the age of 19 in 2012.

His dream lives on through the playground named after him. Jake's Field of Dreams isn't your typical playground. It's all-inclusive so all children can come here and have fun.

Because of what's described as the "soft, spongy surface" of the ground, those with mobility issues and in wheelchairs can safely play on the playground.

A variety of other features, designed to make the playground accessible to all, include slanting climbing apparatus and special seating.

The City of Wentzville notes that Jake's Field of Dreams goes beyond the typical requirements necessary to create ADA-accessible areas.

Adults will likely have just as much fun as the kiddos at this sports-themed playground that even features a play ticket booth.

Kids can zip down slides, cross monkey bars, and pretend to work at a concession stand.
