11 Things Everyone In Kansas City Must Do Before They Die

Discover 11 must-do activities in Kansas City, ranging from museums to outdoor adventures.

What if you have friends visit from out of town and they want to go somewhere special? There's got to be more than a couple things to do around town to entertain for a weekend. Some of the best things are free, but others come with a small admission price. However, it's totally worth the experience! Whether you're looking for ways to entertain your friends from out of town, or you've genuinely never toured Kansas City -- here are 11 things that need to be on your list.

1. Visit the National WWI Museum and Memorial

WWI was a very important series of events in our history, and this museum and memorial is here to remind us of that. The pass is good for two days, which is amazing if you like to really take your time looking at exhibits.

2. Go fountain hunting

Sometimes they're dyed fun colors, and other times they're shooting water like normal. However, the City of Fountains is full of them, so you'll have no trouble following one to another.

3. Wonder at the National Museum of Toys and Miniatures

These tiny sculptures of all kind are just so perfect, and it's hard to imagine how difficult they were to make. All of these tiny houses and perfectly handcrafted like they were made for tiny people.

4. Try a new BBQ restaurant

Honestly, you could try a new place every day for a month before running into your tail again. BBQ is good, but maybe not that good.

5. Visit the pieces left of the Steamboat Arabia

The steamboat sunk years ago, and is still being dug up to this day. Large sections of the boat and many of its contents have been found, cleaned, and put on display.

6. Spend a day at the Kansas City Zoo

Find that source of childhood wonder deep inside you and unleash it at the zoo! There's nothing cooler than being able to experience animals right in your backyard (behind glass, of course).

7. Hang out at Jacob Loose park

Walk the bridge across the still waters, or sit underneath the shade of a tree with a book. My personal favorite is their rose garden, it's just so beautiful seeing them in bloom!

8. Treat your ears to a Kansas City Symphony performance

The Kansas City Symphony is well known throughout the U.S., and there's no reason why you should skip out on a performance. They're professionals, and you can tell they really put their heart into every note.

9. Find your childhood wonder at Legoland

How cool would it be to see this when you were a kid playing with your first set? Everything you can imagine, you can build.

10. Explore ruins on the Cave Springs Trail

There are remnants of a cabin here on this trail, as well as a cool little cave and waterfall. It seems this trail has everything!

11. Finally.... enjoy an amazing Kansas City sunset

Wherever you are, and whatever you're doing at the moment, it won't hurt to stop and watch the sun set just a little while.

After you're finished doing all of these fun activities, then you can start on the 11 best free things to do here!
