Make This Summer The Sweetest Yet By Attending The Mississippi Watermelon Festival

The Mississippi Watermelon Festival in Mize offers a variety of activities, entertainment, and free watermelon every July.

Mark your calendar! The annual Mississippi Watermelon Festival is quickly approaching – and you don’t want to miss a minute of it. The 2-day event includes activities, entertainment, games, and…lots of watermelon, of course. There really is no sweeter way to spend a summer day.

Every July, people flock to the tiny 200-person town of Mize for the Mississippi Watermelon Festival – and you should be one of them!

A longtime favorite, the festival has been going strong since 1978.

It’s always held in Mize City Park on the 3rd weekend of July, which means the 2021 festival will take place on July 16th and 17th.

Worth braving the summer heat for, the fest has something for attendees of all ages.

Food trucks, carnival games, and stages for entertainment fill the park during the 2-day event.

There are vendor booths, too.

Watermelon is, of course, the highlight of the festival. What exactly does that mean? Well, for one, it means all the FREE watermelon you can eat.

There are also watermelon-themed activities, like seed-spitting and watermelon-eating contests.

A 5K run/walk, car and truck show, and beauty pageants are part of the fun, too.

From the food and the activities to the abundance of watermelon, the Mississippi Watermelon Festival truly is one in a melon. Remember to mark your calendar! The 2021 festival is on July 16th and 17th. For more information, call (601) 517-3510. You can also visit the Mississippi Watermelon Festival website or Facebook page.
