A Delicious New Festival Is Coming To Mississippi And You Won’t Want To Miss It

Looks like the New Year is bringing a new gumbo festival to Mississippi, and we couldn’t be happier. Rock ’N’ Roux is a brand new gumbo cook-off that’s taking place in just a few short weeks, and you won’t want to miss it. Here’s what you need to know:

The 100 Men Hall is hosting the first annual Rock ’N’ Roux on Saturday, January 13, 2024.

It will take place on the grounds of the 100 Men Hall from 11:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The event is a fundraiser for the 100 Men Hall, a historic landmark in the Magnolia State.

Founded in 1894 by 12 African American Bay St. Louis residents, the group was formed to help community members when needed. Once the current building was built in 1922, it became an energy center for all major life events, with countless legendary musical acts passing through. Just a few of the legends that have played here include Fats Domino, Etta James, and Ray Charles. Today it’s a stop along the Mississippi Blues Trail.

The fun kicks off at 11:30 a.m. with some toe-tapping Zydeco music from DJ Doug Funnie.

There will be plenty of incredible musicians at Rock ’N’ Roux all day long.

Some of the Gulf Coast’s finest musicians will be taking the stage including Tyron Benoit, and The Monsters at Large which includes Tommy Moran, Sam Brady, Chuck Lofton, Casey Like, Regan Taylor, Gene Moran, and Lee Seal.

And of course, plenty of gumbo to try.

Think you have the best gumbo recipe? sign-ups are still open and accepting teams!

A panel of the judges will determine the winner in each category.

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased on the 100 Men Hall website.
