Minnesota is home to some truly spectacular attractions. Those who have never been here may not be aware of the sheer number of lakes, waterfalls, forests, and beyond that are open to hikers, swimmers, and everyone in between. But it seems that at least some people are wising up to all that Minnesota offers. For example, one upscale travel publication recently named Park Point Beach in Duluth, Minnesota as one of the top beaches in the United States. Being that it's at least 1,000 miles from the beach in every direction, that's pretty impressive. But once you visit, you'll see why this beach makes the grade. Park Point Beach is a lovely beach in Duluth, Minnesota.

It is located on the world's largest sandbar and is a popular place to visit for locals and tourists alike during every season of the year.

Many sections of Park Point look like a windswept coastline...

...complete with sea grasses that might be found along an ocean.

But you won't find ocean here.

Instead, the cold waters of Lake Superior - the world's largest freshwater lake - wash the shore. It's not uncommon to see ships coming into the harbor from this vantage point.

You'll also have views of Duluth from a distance.

As you walk along the sandy beach, you can see buildings and houses in the city stacked high along the hill. It's one of the most unique views in the state!

Many choose to venture into the waves, but most times, the water is cold.

After all, the average temperature of Lake Superior is around 50 degrees Fahrenheit. But on a hot day, it feels refreshing.

In between dips in the cold water, sunbathing is a popular activity at Park Point.

Spread out a towel on this awesome Duluth Beach, open an umbrella, and enjoy the sunshine and waves! It definitely feels almost like being at the ocean.

Though Park Point Beach is more than 1,000 miles from the ocean, it is still one of the nation's best beaches.
