The Land of 10,000 Lakes is full of attractions for people of all ages and interests. Whether you prefer daredevil nature adventures or quiet tea room jaunts, you'll have a good time in Minnesota. One of our favorite places is a fascinating model railroad museum that most Minnesotans have never heard of. If you're a train enthusiast - or just looking for something to do on a rainy day - add this spot to the top of your bucket list.
The Twin City Model Railroad Museum is located at 668 Transfer Rd. #8, St. Paul, MN 55114.
From the doorway, the museum opens into a huge room filled to the brim with fascinating model railroads.
Smaller layouts are a charming way to see the trains up close...
...and larger displays will fill you with awe. The largest, the O scale layout, features an old-fashioned Twin Cities scene.
Charming modern and vintage rains chug their way past city landmarks, making this attraction beautifully nostalgic.
Of course, it's not all realism. There are tons of quirky details that will make you want to look at these railroads all day.
Looking for even more fun? The Twin City Model Railroad Museum hosts a few special exhibits and events that are well worth the visit.
Our favorite is Night Trains. During this holiday event, the big lights are turned down in favor of the twinkling lights of the festive train displays. This season, you can visit Night Trains every Saturday through February 23.
You will absolutely love this fascinating model railroad museum!
