The Boston Fire Museum is a fascinating and fun spot to learn about firefighting and get an inside peek into the world of firefighters.

For most people, the highlight of the museum is their collection of antique fire trucks!

These things are utterly stunning. From a 1793 hand-operated engine built by Paul Revere himself to a steam-powered engine from 1880, these machines are awe-inspiring.

You’ll also find exhibits that range from moving to quirky. There are alarms, outfits, equipment, and photos from all time periods.

Check out the "clackers" meant to alert people to a blaze or the "bed key" that firefighters carried to take apart people’s beds.

This is an attraction for the whole family. There are plenty of kids exhibits and activities to keep little hands and minds occupied.

The museum is only open on Saturdays from 9:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., so plan accordingly.

Admission is free, though you’re always welcome to donate. You can also schedule a tour by emailing ahead.
