There’s A Monster Museum In Massachusetts And It’s Full Of Fascinating Oddities, Artifacts, And More

While Massachusetts has its fair share of world-renowned museums like the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts, there are quite a few unusual museums here as well. Located in the historic city of Salem is a fascinating museum dedicated to monsters and horror. Count Orlok's Nightmare Gallery is one of the most unique museums you can visit in the state.

Count Orlok's Nightmare Gallery is located on Essex Street in the heart of Salem. This one-of-a-kind museum is a hidden gem for those who love monsters, horror, fantasy, and sci-fi.

Step through the doors for an experience you may find creepy or frightening. You'll find 60 life-sized creatures and monsters of horror like werewolves, demons, zombies, vampires, and more.

Many of the displays around the museum were created by cinematic SPFX (special effects) artists. The figures have an incredible amount of detail, so much so that you may believe that they're real!

The creepy, spooky characters are displayed as if it's a wax museum, but it's surely unlike any wax museum you've ever been to. Between three and six new characters are added to Count Orlok's collection each year.

Aside from the lifelike monsters, there is plenty of horror, sci-fi, fantasy, and monster movie memorabilia and exhibits as well.

Count Orlok's Nightmare Gallery is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tickets are $13 for adults and $6 for children ages 6-12 and may be purchased online.
