Eastern Neck National Wildlife Refuge, located on its own island in Maryland, offers scenic views, diverse habitats, and various outdoor activities.

Maryland has quite a few wildlife refuges, one of which we previously wrote about here. Eastern Neck National Wildlife Refuge is special, however, because it's located on its very own island. This scenic refuge is open to visitors and you'll absolutely want to check it out.

Eastern Neck National Wildlife Refuge is an island located on the Chester River.

It encompasses 2,285-acres of lush habitats for migratory birds, including wetlands, grasslands, and ponds.

It's not uncommon to spot a majestic great blue heron...

Or a grand bald eagle.

There are several miles of paths and bridges for you to explore...

Or take to the water and see the serene views by kayak.

Fishing is also permitted in designated areas, as well as hunting during certain times of year.

Stay until days end to watch one of the most beautiful sunsets you've ever seen.
