Another common item found on bucket lists is venturing on a safari. Believe it or not, you can cross that item off your list right here in the Old Line State. Yes, really. Located in Thurmont, you'll find the Catoctin Wildlife Preserve & Zoo.
This zoo features exhibits full of hundreds of animals from regions around the world.
What many people don't know is that it also features wildlife safari rides. Kind of like Jurassic Park, but without dinosaurs and the getting eaten part.
This gives guests an unusual and up close view of yaks...
Close and cuddly encounters with camels...
A face to face meeting with a sassy ostrich...
And crossing paths with several more animals including bison, zebras, and antelope, among others.
The ride is approximately one hour and you are free to feed and photograph the animals to your heart's content.
