So many Christmas displays in Maryland, so little time. If you can only squeeze in a couple of festive spots this year, be sure to make one of them 34th Street. This Baltimore tradition has become nationally recognized, and for good reason. One look at this magical street and you'll see just why it's deserving of so much attention.
Decades ago, a man named Bob Hosier met and married Darlene Hughes. The Baltimore pair both happened to be Christmas enthusiasts. They festively decorated their 34th Street rowhome and the holiday cheer soon spread throughout the block.
The rest, as they say, is history. Today, this annual Hampden neighborhood tradition is known as The Miracle on 34th Street.
Visitors travel from all over to catch a glimpse of the twinkling rowhomes.
What's most fascinating is all the little details that can be found along the block.
And because this is Baltimore, you'll also spot many beloved and iconic Maryland symbols and brands. From a brightly lit steamed crab...
To a Natty Boh angel...
To the Utz girl, and Mr. Boh himself.
This enchanting light display is one that you'll want to see at least once in your lifetime, or even make it an annual family tradition.
Hampden's Miracle on 34th Street begins November 26th, 2016. You can visit the display nightly through December 31st. For more information, visit the website here.
