The Christmas Village In Maine That Becomes Even More Magical Year After Year
Kringleville in Waterville, Maine, offers a magical holiday experience with festive decorations, a Parade of Lights, and free visits with Santa Claus.
If it's holiday cheer you're after, you'll certainly find it throughout Maine! From York to Presque Isle, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the magic of the season beginning just after Thanksgiving. Last year we gave you a list of some of our favorites, but this year we want to focus on one that seems to become more magical each year!
Every year, towns across Maine put holiday smiles on the faces of Mainers.
While they're all wonderful, Waterville transforms into its own unique village each year and it's one of the best!
Welcome to Kringleville, where families throughout Central Maine begin preparing well in advance and the town lights up from Thanksgiving to Christmas!
But, what happens? Read on for how to enjoy the fun of Kringleville!
Just after Thanksgiving, Kringleville kicked off with the yearly Parade of Lights.
Floats designed by community organizations and individuals are lit up to make their way down Main Street and the fire department even gets in on the fun!
This year, Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived at Castonguay Square to kick things off, and where they'll continue to meet with children (both young and old!) to build holiday spirit throughout the month of December.
Meetings with Santa happen every weekend throughout December and are totally free.
The community volunteers pour their heart into creating and decorating Santa and Mrs. Claus's winter home in Maine.
This year, every child who visits with Santa will receive one free storybook from the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce to help support literacy efforts.
The festivities have a strong tie to the Franco-American and Lebanese heritage in the area and, even when not visiting with Santa, you'll feel holiday cheer simply taking in the full scale decorations adorning all of Kringleville.
As you can probably gather, this is a big deal in Central Maine!
And, visits with Santa and the parade are not the only fun to be had! See the link at the bottom of this article for a schedule of all the fun - from decorating Christmas mugs to making ornaments and cards!
So, if you still believe (and even if you don't!) make your way to Kringleville this year for a magical way to experience Christmas.
