Backyard Blooms in Portland came to be almost by mistake! Jason Aucoin and Kate Hanavan grew up as childhood friends, but lost touch over time. But, without knowing it, they both followed similar paths moving to San Francisco and then to Maine. They only reconnected after realizing they'd bought houses next to each other!

Jason transformed his yard into a large garden, eventually selling his flowers at a roadside stand. Kate soon got involved and Backyard Blooms was born!

Today they offer some of the most beautiful and inventive arrangements, perfect for special events, weddings or anything else that needs a fun, fresh pop of color.

We love their custom designs, but it's the flower stand at the side of the road that feels so very Maine to us.

The stand offers arrangements priced at different levels. They often have some for as low as $5 and some more elaborate creations for around $25.
