The holiday season in Maine is a wonderful time to remember just how much beauty can be found throughout the state. Whether you look forward to Christmas all year or simply appreciate the enthusiasm of others, spending some time taking in the local light displays is a good way to spend an evening. And these are the best Christmas lights in Maine, which are all over the state and do a magnificent job!

1. Dr. Zeleniaks Orthodotics Office, Augusta

You might not imagine that a local doctor puts on one of the best displays in the state, but leave it to Maine to offer up fun holiday surprises! We love that the lights are set to music and that visiting is so easy. They're located at 132 State Street, Augusta.

2. Norton Lights, Wells

This display in Wells is both beautiful and important. Each year they accept donations which are passed along to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. You can check out the display through December 25th from Sunday to Thursday between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. and Friday to Saturday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. You can learn more on the Norton Lights website.

3. Mead Family Lights, Westbrook

This family puts on one of the most enviable light shows in the state! Their LED lights blink and dance to the sound of music that you can hear when you tune into 87.9 FM. Even better than the display is the fact that it helps raise money for the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland. Check them out at 46 Jacqueline Way, Westbrook. 4. Monmouth Lights, Monmouth

This beauty runs all the way through January 1st so you can keep that Christmas spirit alive even longer. The lights are made even more spectacular by tuning into 91.7 FM for holiday music. And, we love that there's a Santa mailbox for sending some last-minute notes to the big guy! The show runs daily from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 74 Warren Road, Monmouth. 5. Forgues Family Lights, Lewiston

One of the longest-running displays in Maine, you can check this out from the day after Thanksgiving through New Year's Eve. The show runs with music when you tune into 88.3 FM. The family has been creating their display for over 10 years, so they've certainly perfected the art of the holidays!
