This Totally Maine Experience Includes Both A Boat Ride And A Clambake
Cabbage Island Clambakes offers a quintessential Maine experience with a scenic boat ride and a traditional clambake.
Picture this: It's a sunny day in Maine. The temperature is warm (but not too hot!) and the seas are calm. Seagulls are flying overhead (but not being too bothersome!) and there's not a mosquito in sight. Things in Vacationland don't get much more perfect than this. Except when there's seafood involved! Lots and lots of local Maine seafood. Of all the Maine boat trips you can embark on, this one offers the most quintessential experience.
Cabbage Island Clambakes has been connecting both Mainers and visitors to a special Vacationland experience for over 50 years.
The experience begins with a ride through Boothbay Harbor aboard the Bennie Alice.
The sights, sounds and familiar salty air set the scene for what's sure to be a memorable day out.
Located in Linekin Bay, Cabbage Island is a nearly 6 acre island perfect for exploring.
While the boat makes its way to the island, a dedicated group is preparing a delicious meal.
The staff knows everything there is to know about creating the perfect outdoor clambake and it shows in execution and final product.
But, this trip isn't JUST about the meal.
Once you arrive on the island, there's plenty of time to enjoy the surroundings, which are absolutely beautiful on a sunny day.
Most people will walk around to explore, while kids might join forces for some serious game playing.
You'll know it's time for the first course, a steaming New England fish chowder, when you hear the first bell ring.
There are lots of picnic tables to enjoy your meal and it's a great opportunity to meet new people.
Make your introductions early because once the food comes out, you'll be too busy chowing down to make small talk!
Every visitor gets two beautiful lobsters, white steamed clams, sweet corn on the cob, an egg, onion and roasted potatoes.
The amount of food makes this meal more than a novelty - it'll keep you full the entire day!
Once you've had your fill, you'll board the boat once more and head back to the mainland.
From the meal, the nature and the incredible views, this is a Maine experience that will stay with you for years.
