There's no doubt about it - Louisiana likes to remember things. Perhaps it's no surprise then that we have some of the most unique statues and monuments in the entire country. Check out some of the most unusual ones in Louisiana below, including the latest one to pop up in New Orleans that is definitely going to make you smile!
1) Art the Dalmatian, Shreveport, LA
Outside of the innovative Moonbot studios, an animation studio, there is this huge dalmatian sculpture that really excites all who get a chance to see!
2) Oliver Pollock Fountain and Monument, Frank Hayden, Baton Rouge
Oliver Pollock is perhaps one of the most underrated figures in American history. He was a successful Louisiana merchant in the late 18th century who is credited with bankrolling the American Revolution. This is the only monument to him in the United States...and it is pretty intriguing itself!
3) Blind Justice, Outside Lafayette Courthouse, Lafayette
Known as the Blind Justice statues, many have observed that these unique monuments kind of look like justice doesn't have any brains either!
4) Kenny Hill’s Garden of Salvation, Chauvin
One man created a full menagerie of unique sculptures on this completely magical piece of land in Houma, LA.
5) Evangeline, St. Martinville
This unique monument is a memorial to this epic poem that made St. Martinville famous throughout Southern Louisiana.
6) Monkeys, Rona Pondick, New Orleans
An amazing sculpture to be found at the incredible Besthoff Sculpture Garden in City Park of New Orleans, these monkeys are very different because they have human arms!
7) Brontosaurus, Henderson, LA
You'll find this dinosaur and many others when you explore Prehistoric Park outside of Lafayette.
8) Overflow, Juame Plensa
This figure of a man made up of letters is certain to leave you at a loss for words...
9) Frog Statue, Rayne, LA
They don't call Rayne the frog capital of the world for nothing - this unique frog statue is what lets people know they have arrived in town!
10) Pokemon Statue, New Orleans
And perhaps the most strange of all--this statue popped up in New Orleans under mysterious circumstances about 2 weeks ago. People still don't know how this fiberglass wonder ended up where it is, but they are sure having a lot of fun with it!
