Originally named Slaughterhouse Point, Algiers Point is the second oldest city in the area and was founded in 1719.
The ferry ride over to the Point is quick and easy and offers amazing views of the New Orleans.
The ferry runs seven days a week, every thirty minutes and takes less than ten minutes to get across.
Once you’ve reached Algiers Point, the possibilities are endless.
It’s easily walkable, and on a beautiful day, you’ll love walking the levee trail.

Several of the houses and buildings predate the Civil War, although most were built just after the 1895 fire that destroyed most of the area.
