If you love a good pitstop, then head to Cave City and pay a visit to Big Mike's Rock & Gift Shop. This bizarre roadside attraction is a must-see near Mammoth Cave and is filled with unique fun for the entire family.
Located just down the street from Mammoth Cave National Park, Big Mike's Rock & Gift Shop is a unique — and hard to miss — roadside attraction in Kentucky. It's filled with a wide variety of rocks, of course, but also a large assortment of gifts and other items, and a few attractions you wouldn't expect.
As a rock and gift shop, Big Mike's has some of the world’s greatest rocks, minerals, gems, and fossils. It's also a massive gift shop where you can pick up a memento from your trip to this incredible area of Kentucky.
There are rocks everywhere at Big Mike's, both inside and out. The displays outside have the rocks divided by price, and you're free to see what literal hidden gems you can discover.
Many rock collectors head to Big Mike's for one-of-a-kind finds. Even if you know nothing about rocks or minerals, it's an intriguing place to browse and visit.
The inside of the shop is a gift shop destination on its own with several unique items to check out and purchase. There are home decor items, cave souvenirs, jewelry, and much more.
Another highlight of this peculiar attraction is "Big Mo," the world's largest fossilized Mosasaur skull. It was discovered in 1994 in the northwestern region of the U.S. and this incredible dinosaur fossil is 65 million years old.
The shop even created a "life-size" replica of Big Mo on the property, and it's also a popular photo op. This prehistoric creature is just another bizarre feature of Big Mike's.
And one last feature that you must try during your visit is the Mystery House. There's a small fee to enter, but visitors love this classic attraction that takes you through mysterious rooms with odd shapes, mirrors, and surprises around every corner.
