Head To This Little-Known Park For A Night Of Stellar Stargazing In Kentucky

One thing that Kentucky is wonderful for is all the space away from the cities where one can kick back and wonder at the majesty of the star-filled night sky. It’s even better when you can do so at a little-known park along with a few other people who enjoy stargazing in Kentucky. Wouldn’t it be cool if someone provided telescopes so that you could get a closer look at specific stars, planets, and other stellar objects? You can experience this at the Star Party at Mahr Park Arboretum this August!

Mahr Park Arboretum will be hosting the Star Party on August 26 at 6 p.m., guided by Ross Workman who will give a presentation and provide telescopes for your use. The event is absolutely free.

Mahr Park Arboretum is a great place for this event as it is well away from light pollution and has a lot of open space allowing for a clear view of the night sky. Plus, it’s a beautiful place in its own right.

Saturn will be at opposition during the event meaning it will be brighter than at any other time of the year. Using the telescopes that are provided, you may even get to make out its rings. The moon will be at almost half, so it won’t outshine Saturn.

The Kentucky night sky is simply stunning any time of year. Being able to see it on a warm August night without shivering while being among fellow stargazers and having telescopes available will make for a stellar time for everyone.
