Here Are 5 Must-Visit Wizard Of Oz Sites In Kansas

Discover five top Wizard of Oz attractions in Kansas, including museums, festivals, and themed locations.

I know I make a lot of sarcastic remarks on here about The Wizard of Oz, but deep down I absolutely love it and I'm incredibly proud of the legacy it's left for the Sunflower State. If you can't get enough of Dorothy and the gang, be sure to visit the five sites listed below. They're some of the best Wizard of Oz attractions in Kansas.

1. Oz Museum

We obviously couldn't begin this list without talking about the place "dedicated to all things Oz." Tucked away in downtown Wamego is the wonderful Oz Museum, which features more than 2,000 Wizard of Oz artifacts, colorful exhibits, a unique gift shop and several fabulous surprises along the way. After tapping together your ruby red slippers to return home, you will want to head next door to the Oz Winery.

2. Oz Winery

There's no place like the Oz Winery, which features a variety of aptly named whites (Witch Gone Good), reds (Drunken Munchkins), blushes (Chateau d'Oz: Dorothy's Dream), and more. Word to the wise: Make plans to visit in October so you can partake in the annual OZtoberFest.

3. OZtoberFest

Star sightings and concerts and car shows...oh my! These are just a small part of this annual festival, which takes place each year in the city of Wamego.

4. Yellow Brick Road

Follow the Yellow Brick Road, which is comprised of more than 11,500 bricks, around the small and charming town of Sedan. Better yet, visit in May to take part in the town's annual Yellow Brick Road Festival.

5. Dorothy's House & the Land of Oz

"Ha ha ha, ho ho ho, and a couple of tra la las; that's how we laugh the day away in the merry old land of Oz!"...and you can expect nothing less from this community gem, which features home tours (from Dorothy herself), delightful animations, and even some Wizard of Oz memorabilia.
