Indiana isn’t exactly known for a long list of things. Sure, some folks know all about how we’ve got some of the best hiking, camping, and glamping in the nation, but we’re also a state full of food lovers… and it shows. The numerous amazing food-themed festivals in Indiana are a perfect testament to this, and what better place to get the best comfort food in the world than in the American Midwest? It’s right up our alley, I think, so this awesome food fest I’m about to drop on you might just become your new favorite thanks to its off-the-charts awesomeness. Crank that appetite up to 11, because you’re going to need it come the end of June! Come out to Danville for the Hendricks County Rib Fest, a BBQ festival in Indiana you won’t want to wait until next year for.
Save the date for June 29th, 2024, and the location for Danville, Indiana.
Danville is a cute, quiet little town with a population of just over 10,000, though this number tends to grow substantially for a little while during this particular event.
The town is a delight, but the barbecue festival is the ultimate draw.
If there's anything Hoosiers appreciate, it's a good old-fashioned barbecue... and this annual festival celebrates this ancient art form in the best of ways.
There will be numerous fun things to do and see while you're here (you know, other than stuffing your face, which is what I'll be doing).
If you're interested, there's the Rise and Swine (see what they did there?) 5K Rib Run, and there's a "riblets" run for the kids, too!
You'll also find top-notch live entertainment, kids' games and activities, hot air balloons, and so much more. Of course, you'll want to bring that appetite of yours. You're definitely going to need it.
Also attending the festival will be nine amazing local rib vendors, as well as others featuring everything from coffee and sweets to much more.
Local restaurants and eateries will go head-to-head for the coveted titles of "best ribs" and "best sauce"... so may the best barbecuers win. Honestly, no matter who wins the titles, the rest of us win anyway - we get to eat those juicy, delectable, fall-off-the-bone delights en masse.
So, come out to Danville for the rib and barbecue fest, but do consider staying overnight.
This small town in Indiana has a big secret, and that big secret is a ridiculously wonderful barbecue festival.
For more information about the festival, vendors, and what to expect, be sure to check out the official Avon Chamber website. This is the 19th annual ribfest, so they definitely know what they're doing! It's legendary, and you're about to find out why it's arguably the best BBQ festival in Indiana. Festivities go from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., so plan on a full day of fall-off-the-bone fun.
