The Largest Shopping Mall In Indiana Has More Than 130 Shops

Castleton Square Mall in Indiana, the largest mall in the state, offers a nostalgic shopping experience with over 130 stores and a variety of dining options.

There aren't many fun activities that are quite as classic as heading to the mall. Starting back when we were teenagers hanging out after school and stretching into adulthood as we go to get in our steps and go window-shopping, the mall experience has remained largely timeless. Although some online stores have forced the closures of smaller malls in some places, there are others that are doing quite well - thriving, in fact. One such place just happens to be the largest mall in Indiana, and with more than 130 shops and stores to browse, there's more than enough to do to spend an entire afternoon here.

Castleton Square Mall has been around for generations and will likely be around for many more.

Located at 6020 E 82nd St. in the Castleton neighborhood in northeastern Indianapolis, one of the many awesome neighborhoods in Indiana, it is the largest shopping center in the Hoosier State. And there's more than enough to do, see, and sample here during your visit.

Built in 1972, Castleton Square Mall has been the biggest mall in Indiana since its inception.

It was expanded in 1990, and again in 1998. Over the years, many stores - including both smaller stores and their larger department-store counterparts - have come and gone, but the overall experience does its best to stay the same year after year.

Wandering around, you'll likely feel a sense of nostalgia, watching pre-teens and teenagers milling about and maybe taking a few moments to remember when you were one of them.

It was a much simpler time way back when; seemingly, there wasn't a care in the world. It was just you, your best friends, and the mall. What kind of "mall kid" were you?

But what's most important here is just the sheer size of this place.

Folks often mistake Indiana for what they call a "flyover" state, somewhere that's boring and drab and not at all worth visiting. But it's great shopping places like Castleton Square that prove them wrong. There's plenty to do in the Hoosier State, and hanging out at the mall is one of the most nostalgic.

While wandering around the mall you'll encounter music and entertainment stores, department stores, clothing stores, specialty stores, furniture stores, niche stores, and so much more!

One of the favorite pastimes here is grabbing a big, delicious drink from the food court and checking out each shop, store, and booth one by one. It's oddly relaxing to take your time and browse, even if you have no plans to purchase anything (this time).

And speaking of the food court, there are plenty of wonderful places to choose from when all that browsing and shopping has made you hungry.

You'll want to save room, too, of course - there are also plentiful choices when it comes to an enticing dessert! Go on, pick more than one. The time here is for savoring and enjoying, after all!

Come alone or with friends, like the old times.

Not only is Castleton Square the biggest mall in Indiana, some say it is also the best mall in Indiana! How long has it been since aimlessly wandering around a good old-fashioned shopping mall?

You can find out more about the mall, its shops, and upcoming special events on Castleton Square's website or Facebook page. What are your thoughts? Do you have any plans to visit the largest shopping mall in Indiana? What are your favorite stores? Tell us your thoughts in the comments!
