Known as the "fourth most terrifying place in America," Whispers Estate is a classic haunted house that belongs on any ghost hunter's bucket list. The best part is that is allows paranormal investigations, and you don't want to miss out.
Built around 1884, the home was bought in 1899 by Dr. John and Jessie Gibbons who aimed to serve their community. In addition to treating locals in the area, they also took in orphan children.
No good deed goes unpunished. Several of the children taken in by the Gibbons died in the house. The first was a 10-year old girl who started a fire on the porch and passed due to the terrible burns she incurred. Yet, there are reports of her still running around the house today.
Another child who died was an infant, and the cause of death is unknown. Regardless, the smell of baby powder still lingers in the room where her crib lay. Mrs. Gibbons also died in this room, and there have been reports of the sounds of coughs and heaving breathing by those who have stayed the night.
Other strange things about this haunted estate include the fact that it was used as a doctors office for about 26 years and many people likely died or at least lost limbs in this home. There are four graves in the backyard as well as a mass grave that is believed to be filled with body parts, organs, and aborted fetuses.
Strange reports of door handles jiggling, the feeling of being watched, weird tremors, and other odd incidents have been happening at least since 2006 when a previous owner bought the house in order to do repairs.
