The Story Behind This Ghost Town Cemetery In Indiana Will Chill You To The Bone
Indiana's Elizabethtown Cemetery is a chilling remnant of a ghost town.
Indiana has its fair share of abandoned places to visit, but the ghost towns and cemeteries that exist in our state, like the Elizabethtown Cemetery, are some of the creepiest. Elizabethtown is so deserted that the only thing left of it is this cemetery - and it will chill you to the bone.
Elizabethtown is an abandoned town that can be found in Delaware County. The town was officially formed in the early 1800s, named after the founder's daughter, Elizabeth Wilson.
The town had high hopes of becoming the county seat and thriving in this small corner of Indiana. However, when it was passed over, this town slowly began to decline, until it was completely abandoned and became an Indiana ghost town in the early 1900s.
Despite its bright and cheery location, all that remains of this ghost town in Indiana is a cemetery that seems to appear out of nowhere.
This isolated cemetery is creepy to visit on your own, since it's in the middle of nowhere. But this trip is made even more chilling by claims that it's haunted by spirits.
While no dark presences have been felt here and there are no origins of the ghost stories, rumors abound that shadowy figures can be found lurking in the Elizabethtown Cemetery, usually disappearing upon sighting visitors.
Paranormal investigators have caught strange sounds and believed responses on tape while visiting this cemetery, adding to the rumors that spirits lurk in this Indiana ghost town.
The mysterious eeriness of this cemetery is thrown off by the bright sunlight and well-maintained grounds. Still, many claim you can feel how haunted this area is upon entering the cemetery.
Since Elizabethtown is no longer in operation, there's no exact address to the cemetery, but GPS coordinates have been confirmed at Lat: 40.3770° (40° 22' 37")
Lon: -85.4506° (-85° 27' 2").
