The extraordinary circus festival in Indiana was formed in 1960 and takes place annually in the third week of July.

The fun and excitement draw out hundreds of Hoosiers and out-of-staters each year!

This was the intent of Robert Edward Weaver, pictured here as Ringmaster of the Peru Circus in around 1965.

The award-winning artist and others established the Circus City Festival, Inc. in which he served as president. The organization was a vital component in the foundation and promotion of the Peru Amateur Circus and the Circus City Festival to rekindle the area's interest in its rich Circus Heritage.

The circus festival features a parade, circus performances, live bands, a museum, and thrilling competitions.

Every year, about 200 people between the ages of 7 and 21 put on 10 performances during this eight-day fest.

Some of them have gone on to perform in professional acts like Ringling Bros. and Shrine Circuses. We think it's one of the most unique festivals in Indiana!

Peru is known as the Circus Capital of the World, in part due to this festival, and also because it's home to the International Circus Hall of Fame.

This marvelous museum is open during the event, offering some very cool history.

In addition to the circus, a carnival with rides takes place, and folks love the delicious treats available.
