Schimpff's Confectionery in southern Indiana has a been a Hoosier favorite since 1891. It has been passed down four generations and remains in the same family that started it.
The store is best known for its cinnamon Red Hots, hard candy fish, Modjeskas, and chocolate turtles. You'll also find lemon drops, peanut brittle, English toffee, cherry cordials, and much more.
Schimpff's Confectionery also has a 1950s soda fountain that makes the most delicious, classic drinks. Nothing will take you back in time like these sweet and chilly treats.
Lunch is also served at this unique store. Menu items include soups, sandwiches, desserts, and of course, milkshakes, sundaes, malts, and more.
Demonstrations are given frequently to show guests how various candies are made. The only thing better than eating candy is eating it fresh.
In addition to sweets, this place is also known for its candy shop museum. Tours are free and include a glimpse into the chocolate dipping room.
It is recommended that you make reservations ahead of time for your tour to ensure that you are around when candy is actually being made. Tours last 35 to 40 minutes.
This sweet museum includes candy memorabilia as well as vintage candy-making equipment. You'll also see old brand marketing and advertisements.
