Glessner House in northern Illinois was built in 1887 and became a museum in 1966 to preserve the architecture and history of this old home.

While many houses were being constructed in the Victorian style, this was one of the first to depart from that style. The architecture of this building inspired many builders afterward.

There was no electricity in the home at the time that the Glessner family lived here, but it was wired in time for the Chicago World's Fair in 1893.
