Here Are The 8 Best Christmas Light Displays In Hawaii. They’re Magical.
Hawaii offers unique and enchanting Christmas light displays that blend traditional holiday elements with tropical flair.
While we may not have a white Christmas, Hawaii is a beautiful place to be during the holiday season, and throughout our magnificent islands, you will find various Christmas celebrations, displays, and light shows. Here are eight of the best Christmas light displays in Hawaii, guaranteed to fill you with holiday cheer – and have you singing Christmas carols and drinking eggnog in no time.
1) Honolulu City Lights
The Honolulu City Lights is perhaps the largest Christmas celebration across the state. The event began in 1985 when former Mayor Frank F. Fasi held a free event that featured holiday lights and a concert on the main lawn, and lights that stretched downtown to the civic center. The lights usually continue through the beginning of the new year.
2) Kilauea Military Camp
Near the summit of Kilauea volcano, this military recreation center goes all out for Christmas. And with temperatures that can dip into the 40s during December, you may even feel like you’ve made the trip to the mainland. The cottages are typically illuminated the month of December, and spectators are encouraged to vote for their favorite cottage!
3) Banyan Tree Park
Every year, the banyan tree, which was planted in 1873 and is the oldest in the state, is decked out in colored Christmas lights. See for yourself one of the most unique Christmas light displays in Hawaii!
4) Kapolei City Lights
Not only are their light displays in and around city hall, but Kapolei also throws a festive light parade to kick off the holiday season!
5) Kauai Festival of Lights
This Hawaiian festival of lights is a magnificent display of holiday cheer – from fantastic themed trees to Hawaiian-inspired decorations, all with the help of local artisans, and using recycled materials whenever possible.
6) Grand Wailea
This Maui Resort not only decorates a beautiful, grand Christmas tree, but they also wrap lights around many of the existing trees on the resort grounds and construct a gingerbread house village in the lobby.
7) Waimea Lighted Christmas Parade
This annual Waimea holiday tradition begins with a parade, and then with a large Christmas party to follow at Hofgaard Park.
8) And last, but certainly not least, there's this incredible display in a Waikele neighborhood.

This neighborhood goes all out for Christmas, putting together an extensive synchronized light show. It is so impressive that it has been featured on the ABC special, "The Great Christmas Light Fight." Be sure to check their Facebook page so you can catch this light display for yourself!
