Apocalypso, Georgia’s First Waterslide Coaster, Will Be Open In Summer 2024

We get it: summer in Georgia can be brutal. Depending on where you're located in the Peach State, temperatures can range from miserably humid to downright dangerous. Luckily, we have quite a few options for cooling off, whether you prefer a natural solution like a dip in a swimming hole or enjoy the thrill of visiting one of the many great water parks in Georgia. One of the state's largest water parks is Margaritaville at Lanier Islands in Buford. If you haven't been in a little while, you might want to put it on your travel list for 2024, because it's undergoing quite a few changes this year! Check it out:

This immensely popular water park near Atlanta has undergone multi-million dollar renovations over the last few years, and everything's finally going to be completed by summer 2024.

First and foremost, the park is being rebranded as Margaritaville Fins Up Water Park. This will be the first Fins Up property in the United States.

In addition to the new name, you'll find four new slides, one of which is the mighty Apocalypso: the first waterslide coaster in Georgia.

While Apocalypso is designed for older thrill seekers, there's plenty for younger visitors to enjoy here, too, including the new Mango Mania slide.

You'll also find a few new food and beverage offerings available for the 2024 season, with seven different vendors to choose from.

The new slides will bring Fins Up Water Park's total number of offerings to 15, making it the largest water park in Georgia.

Not a fan of adrenaline rushes? The brand new cabanas are perfect for relaxing by the water.

Are you planning on visiting the new Fins Up Water Park in Buford, GA this year? You can learn more (or purchase a season pass!) at the Margaritaville at Lanier Islands website or the Margaritaville at Lanier Islands Facebook page.

One thing that's especially important to not forget when visiting a water park in Georgia is sunscreen! I love Sun Bum from REI: it's skin safe and not tested on animals.
